Gebrekidan, a one-year and six-month-old child, arrived at Tibebe Ghion Hospital in Bahir Dar accompanied by his mother, Tazanesh.

Amina, the mother of seven-month-old Samira, arrived at Asella Hospital with her daughter to seek surgery for Samira’s cleft lip.

At just one year old, Sumeya and his mother, Samiru, arrived at our program at Asella Hospital seeking surgery for Sumeya’s cleft lip.

Yerosan, who is eight months old, came to our programme at Asella hospital with her mother Beket and father Robsan from East Wellega.

Firomsa, a six-month-old child, came to Asela Referral and Teaching Hospital to undergo cleft lip surgery through our recent program.

Yordanos who is a 2 years and nine months old, came to Tibebe Ghion hospital, Bahir Dar, with his mother and his father from West Gojjam, to receive surgery for his cleft palate.

Tseganesh, who is 6 years and five-month-old, came to Tibebe Ghion hospital, Bahir Dar to get cleft lip surgery with her father and her mother from West Gojjam.

Senayit is one of the children that came to Woldia comprehensive specialised hospital to receive surgery for her cleft lip. Senayit and her family travelled for almost two days to reach the hospital in Woldia Town.

Baye, who is 2 years and nine months old, came to Tibebe Ghion hospital, Bahir Dar with his mother and father, who are farmers from West Gojjam, to get cleft lip surgery.

Atnasia received cleft palate surgery at our Bahir Dar programme, she is one year and seven months old and attended with her mother.

Bilal came to our recent programme in Bahir Dar, with both his mother and father who are farmers in North Gondar. Bilal has previously had surgery to correct his cleft lip and returned to receive cleft palate surgery. He is 3 years and four-months-old and is the fifth chid of his parents.

Now that Gammachu is treated I am so happy, I cannot stop smiling. My son is one of the lucky children to have received treatment at such a young age. When he grows, he will go to school and he can achieve his dreams — feeling comfortable in how he looks.

This family accessed Project Harar's cleft lip and palate services in November 2021, but unfortunately this baby was underweight and not healthy enough to receive surgery. We gave the family targeted nutritional support and advice so that their baby will be healthy enough to receive surgery as soon as possible.
